Nippon Paint Q1 Operating Profit Jumps 42.7% to ¥70.9bn on 20.8% Revenue Growth

Nippon Paint Holdings, one of the world's largest coatings makers, said first-quarter operating profit jumped 42.7% to ¥70.95 billion as revenue rose 20.8% to ¥490.28 billion; net profit rose 44.3% to ¥51.52 billion.

Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. (TSE: 4612), a global paint and coatings group with major operations across Asia, the Americas and automotive coatings, reported results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending December 2026 — the three months to March 31, 2026 — under IFRS. Revenue rose 20.8% to ¥490,278m, operating profit rose 42.7% to ¥70,948m, pre-tax profit rose 46.0% to ¥67,869m and profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 44.3% to ¥51,524m. Basic EPS was ¥22.18, up from ¥15.20.

Broad-based growth

Growth was broad-based across regions, lifting margins. Total comprehensive income swung to ¥128,944m from an ¥86,118m loss a year earlier, helped by currency and other movements.

Balance sheet and dividend

Total assets were ¥4,140,764m and equity attributable to owners ¥1,902,474m, for an equity ratio of 45.9%. Nippon Paint guides a full-year dividend of ¥17.00 per share, up from ¥16.00.

Outlook

Nippon Paint kept its full-year guidance for the year to December 2026, projecting revenue of ¥1,920,000m (+8.2%), operating profit of ¥283,000m (+10.1%), pre-tax profit of ¥274,000m (+9.4%) and profit attributable to owners of ¥198,000m (+10.1%), for EPS of ¥85.34.
