Komatsu Wall Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 7949), an Ishikawa Prefecture-based manufacturer of movable partitions, sliding walls and interior fittings for offices, schools, hospitals and public buildings, reported non-consolidated first-quarter results for the three months to June 30, 2026 under Japanese GAAP. Revenue rose 3.8% to ¥9,976 million, operating profit climbed 36.2% to ¥418 million, ordinary profit gained 36.6% to ¥439 million, and net profit advanced 23.5% to ¥267 million. Basic earnings per share came to ¥15.18, up from ¥12.31 a year earlier.
Margins widen on a modest sales gain
The standout feature of the quarter is the gap between the top line and the profit line: revenue grew just 3.8%, yet operating profit expanded 36.2%. The operating margin therefore roughly doubled off a low base, to about 4.2% from 3.2% a year earlier. Management attributes the improvement to a better project mix and to price pass-through on materials and installation work, both of which carried more weight than the modest volume gain itself.
Seasonality shapes the quarter
Komatsu Wall's earnings are strongly seasonal, and the April–June quarter is by some distance its smallest. Partition and interior-wall installations are tied to building completions and fit-out schedules that cluster later in the fiscal year, so the ¥418 million of first-quarter operating profit represents under 10% of the ¥4,260 million full-year operating-profit plan. The modest absolute figures are therefore normal for this point in the year, and the percentage swings they produce should be read with that in mind.
A conservative balance sheet
Total assets stood at ¥47,378 million at June 30, 2026, down from ¥48,603 million at the March year-end, while net assets eased to ¥38,371 million from ¥39,236 million — movements that principally reflect the year-end dividend payment made during the quarter. The equity ratio nevertheless edged up to 81.0% from 80.7%, leaving the company with one of the more conservatively financed balance sheets among listed Japanese building-materials makers.
Guidance unchanged, dividend raised to ¥135
Komatsu Wall left its full-year FY3/2027 forecasts unchanged. For the first half it guides revenue of ¥21,900 million (+3.8%), operating profit of ¥1,210 million (+1.5%), ordinary profit of ¥1,230 million (+0.8%) and net profit of ¥860 million (+5.2%), with EPS of ¥48.89. For the full year it guides revenue of ¥48,600 million (+4.0%), operating profit of ¥4,260 million (+3.9%), ordinary profit of ¥4,310 million (+3.8%) and net profit of ¥3,050 million — essentially flat, at 0.0% — with EPS of ¥173.39. The annual dividend forecast is likewise unchanged from the previously announced plan at ¥135.00 per share, comprising a ¥65.00 interim and a ¥70.00 year-end payment, up from ¥130.00 (¥65 plus ¥65) in FY3/2026.
