Tama Home Q1 FY5/2027 earnings summary

A seasonal loss, slightly wider

Tama Home Co., Ltd. (TSE: 1419), the Tokyo-based builder of low-cost custom homes, reported consolidated results for the first quarter of FY5/2027, the three months from June 1 to August 31, 2026, on October 13, 2026 under Japanese GAAP. Net sales fell 5.1% to ¥27,613 million, the operating loss widened to ¥4,559 million from ¥4,435 million and the ordinary loss to ¥4,960 million from ¥4,439 million. The net loss attributable to owners of the parent was ¥3,329 million, or ¥114.85 per share, against ¥2,833 million a year earlier.

The company said housing starts remained weak and higher mortgage rates and building costs kept buyers cautious. FY5/2027 is the first year of its five-year Tama Step 2031 plan. It added sales staff, diversified customer channels, expanded single-storey and regional products, and diversified suppliers and reviewed prices to offset rising material costs.

Segments

The housing segment opened one sales office, taking the total to 235, and delivered 487 custom homes, down 12.4%; sales fell 11.3% to ¥14,199 million and the segment loss narrowed slightly to ¥5,327 million from ¥5,353 million, as cross-selling lifted the remodelling business. The real-estate segment delivered 325 built-for-sale homes, up 11.3%, and grew sales 2.0% to ¥11,978 million, but profit fell 38.7% to ¥456 million as sublease income fell and a large office-layout job a year earlier did not recur. The finance segment turned a profit of ¥49 million.

Balance sheet, dividend and outlook

As is usual in the first quarter, homes under construction and land for sale built up: total assets rose 18.4% to ¥102,418 million on higher work in progress and real estate for sale, funded by advances received and ¥16,818 million of additional borrowings. Net assets fell 23.4% to ¥22,751 million after the loss and ¥3,623 million of dividends, for an equity ratio of 22.2%. The company plans an annual dividend of ¥130, against ¥125.

The full-year forecast published on July 14 is unchanged: net sales of ¥230,000 million (+16.3%), operating profit of ¥7,500 million (+95.2%), ordinary profit of ¥6,700 million (+78.3%) and net profit of ¥4,000 million (+229.7%).
