The company said births in Japan fell 2.1% to 706,000 in 2025, but the number of childcare facilities kept rising, to 40,046, and waiting lists grew again to 2,435 children in April 2026. A 2023 government notice encouraged nurseries to dispose of used diapers themselves, which it expects to make its service increasingly important.
