Business Description
Fujikura makes optical fibre and cable, electronic components and automotive wire harnesses. Its information and communication division supplies Wrapping Tube Cable, an ultra-high-density design that packs thousands of fibres into a narrow duct, together with the fusion splicers used to join them — products in heavy demand for the hyperscale data centres being built for AI workloads in North America.
The remaining segments cover flexible printed circuits and thermal-management components for electronics, power cables and accessories for grid operators, and automotive wiring. A restructuring that closed loss-making plants and exited peripheral businesses left the company far more geared to the data-centre cycle than to its traditional cable markets. Founded in 1885 as a maker of silk-insulated wire, it was incorporated in 1910.
