Business Description
Fujitsu sells system integration, managed services and cloud to Japanese government and corporate customers, which supply the bulk of profit, alongside a European services arm and a hardware line covering servers, storage and network equipment. Its research arm built Fugaku, ranked the world's fastest supercomputer from 2020 to 2022, and the company is developing Arm-based processors and quantum computing with RIKEN.
Its Horizon accounting software, supplied to the British Post Office, produced faulty shortfalls that led to the wrongful prosecution of more than 700 sub-postmasters — the widest miscarriage of justice in modern British history — and a public inquiry in which Fujitsu accepted a moral obligation to contribute to compensation. Founded in 1935 as a spin-off of Fuji Electric's telephone-equipment operation.
