A fifth straight record
Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TSE: 9983), the Yamaguchi-founded parent of UNIQLO and GU, reported consolidated results for FY8/2026, the year from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026, on October 8, 2026 under IFRS. Revenue rose 16.6% to ¥3,963,389 million and business profit, which the company defines as revenue less cost of sales and SG&A, rose 30.4% to ¥718,499 million. Operating profit rose 31.7% to ¥743,128 million. Net finance income of ¥59.3 billion, mostly ¥52.2 billion of net interest, took pre-tax profit up 23.4% to ¥802,505 million, and profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 25.3% to ¥542,516 million, or ¥1,768.08 per share.
UNIQLO International leads
UNIQLO International grew revenue 26.2% to ¥2,411,135 million and business profit 44.1% to ¥439.8 billion, with double-digit revenue and profit growth in every region. Revenue in North America rose 34.6% to ¥364.9 billion and in Europe 38.7% to ¥512.6 billion, with business profit up 53.3% to ¥67.9 billion and 69.0% to ¥91.7 billion; the two regions combined now exceed both Greater China and the Korea, Southeast Asia, India and Australia region in revenue. Greater China grew revenue 11.3% to ¥724.0 billion and business profit 24.6% to ¥112.0 billion, while Korea, Southeast Asia, India and Australia grew revenue 30.7% to ¥809.4 billion and business profit 44.0% to ¥168.3 billion.
UNIQLO Japan grew revenue 5.7% to ¥1,084,843 million and business profit 8.1% to ¥196.0 billion, a record, on same-store sales up 5.1%, driven by functional items such as Ultra Stretch pants and UV-protection wear and on-trend shapes such as barrel-leg pants; the SG&A-to-sales ratio improved 0.4 points to 32.6%. GU grew revenue 1.8% to ¥336,717 million and business profit 11.0% to ¥31.5 billion, though sales struggled in the fourth quarter during the transition to its autumn-winter collection. Global Brands, including Theory, saw revenue fall 2.3% to ¥128,561 million, with business profit up 6.8% to ¥2.8 billion.
Cash flow and dividend
Operating cash flow rose to ¥788.6 billion from ¥580.6 billion, and cash and cash equivalents reached ¥1,007.6 billion. Capital expenditure was ¥112.7 billion, ¥68.8 billion of it at UNIQLO International. Total assets rose 17.9% to ¥4,549,464 million, and the ratio of equity attributable to owners of the parent rose to 62.6% from 58.9%. The annual dividend was ¥850 a share, ¥320 at the half-year and ¥530 at year-end, against ¥500 a year earlier, for a payout ratio of 48.1%.
FY8/2027 outlook
For FY8/2027 the company forecasts revenue of ¥4,450,000 million (+12.3%), business profit of ¥830,000 million (+15.5%), operating profit of ¥830,000 million (+11.7%), pre-tax profit of ¥880,000 million (+9.7%) and net profit of ¥560,000 million (+3.2%), or ¥1,825.06 per share, assuming ¥156.2 to the dollar and ¥181.8 to the euro. It plans 3,545 stores at year-end, 1,752 of them at UNIQLO International, and a dividend of ¥900, split ¥450 and ¥450.
