Operator of UNIQLO and GU, and one of the three largest apparel retailers in the world.

Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. headquarters

Business Description

Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. designs, manufactures and sells clothing through a vertically integrated model in which it controls everything from fabric development to store operations. UNIQLO is the core brand, split for reporting into UNIQLO Japan and UNIQLO International; GU is the lower-priced fast-fashion chain, and Theory, PLST and Comptoir des Cotonniers make up the Global Brands segment.

Growth now comes mainly from UNIQLO International, where Greater China is the largest overseas market and North America and Europe are expanding fastest. Founded in 1963 as the menswear retailer Ogori Shoji, the company opened the first UNIQLO store in 1984 and closes its financial year at the end of August rather than in March.
