Business Description
Hitachi, Ltd. is one of Japan's largest industrial groups, spanning digital systems and services, energy, mobility, connective industries and industrial products. Its Lumada portfolio of data and analytics offerings has become the organising idea for the whole company, layered on top of hardware businesses such as power grids, rail systems, elevators and industrial equipment.
Over the past decade the group has sold or spun off dozens of listed subsidiaries — including its chemicals, metals, construction machinery and home appliance arms — while acquiring GlobalLogic in the United States and ABB's power grid business. Founded in 1910 and incorporated in 1920, it now earns well over half of its revenue outside Japan.
