DENSO CORPORATION

The world's second-largest automotive supplier and the technical heart of the Toyota group, from fuel injectors to the sensors behind driver assistance.

DENSO CORPORATION headquarters

Business Description

DENSO makes thermal systems, powertrain components, electrification products, mobility electronics and advanced devices. Its range runs from air conditioning and radiators through injectors, spark plugs and alternators to the millimetre-wave radar, cameras and electronic control units that underpin advanced driver-assistance systems.

Toyota owns roughly a quarter of the company and remains the largest customer, which gives DENSO unusual visibility into vehicle programmes but ties its fortunes to one automaker's volumes. The shift to electric vehicles removes some of its most profitable engine components while adding inverters, motors and battery-management electronics, and the company has been consolidating group assets to concentrate on those. Founded in 1949 when Toyota spun off its electrical-parts division.
