Business Description
Daiichi Life Group is the holding company for Dai-ichi Life Insurance, the traditional sales-representative channel; Dai-ichi Frontier Life, which sells savings-type products through banks; and Neo First Life, a protection-focused arm. Overseas it owns Protective Life in the United States, TAL in Australia and a set of Asian operations, and it has built an asset-management business around Asset Management One.
Earnings are driven less by premium growth — the domestic market is shrinking with the population — than by the investment portfolio and by disciplined pricing, which makes the group unusually sensitive to Japanese and U.S. interest rates. Dai-ichi converted from a mutual to a joint-stock company in 2010, the first Japanese life insurer to do so, and adopted the holding-company structure in 2016; the group renamed itself Daiichi Life Group in 2026.
