Business Description
SoftBank Corp. runs mobile, broadband and fixed-line services under the SoftBank, Y!mobile and LINEMO brands and ranks third in Japan by subscriber numbers. Its consumer business is tightly bundled with PayPay, the country's dominant QR-code payment app, and with LY Corporation, the operator of Yahoo! Japan and LINE, which it consolidates.
An enterprise arm sells corporate networks, cloud and security services, while a newer distribution and AI push is building data-centre and GPU capacity inside Japan, positioning the company as the local partner for the artificial-intelligence investments made by parent SoftBank Group. Incorporated in 1986 and listed separately in 2018 in what was then Japan's largest IPO, it distributes most of its earnings as dividends.
