Canon Marketing Japan 9M FY12/2026 earnings summary

Mix, not volume, drives profit

Canon Marketing Japan Inc. (TSE: 8060) reported consolidated results for the first nine months of FY12/2026, January 1 to September 30, 2026, on October 26, 2026 under Japanese GAAP. Net sales rose 3.2% to ¥507,670 million, helped by steady growth in SI and solutions and in services and outsourcing within IT solutions, as corporate IT investment stayed strong, especially in manufacturing and finance. Higher gross profit and a growing share of higher-value products and services, mainly in IT solutions, lifted operating profit 22.8% to ¥46,915 million and ordinary profit 20.7% to ¥47,698 million. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 19.5% to ¥32,599 million, or ¥156.15 per share, restated for the two-for-one share split on April 1, 2026.

Profit up in all four segments

Enterprise grew sales 4.1% to ¥205,320 million and segment profit 19.8% to ¥16,881 million, with several large office MFP and laser-printer deals, a large IT-infrastructure project for the education sector and steady manufacturing SI work offsetting the end of PC replacement demand tied to the Windows 10 support deadline. Area sales slipped 0.4% to ¥177,553 million as that PC demand fell away, but better margins and lower SG&A lifted profit 15.2% to ¥18,583 million; security software and its Makasete IT support service for small firms grew. Consumer grew sales 4.2% to ¥101,448 million and profit 30.6% to ¥9,519 million, as new EOS R6 Mark III and EOS R6 V cameras offset last year's high-end launches and buying ahead of expected memory price rises lifted portable SSD and memory-card sales. Professional grew sales 4.1% to ¥36,311 million and profit 11.1% to ¥4,006 million, with large hospital IT projects outweighing lower production-printing and semiconductor-equipment sales.

Buybacks, dividend and outlook

Total assets fell 4.5% to ¥538,750 million and net assets 5.1% to ¥392,692 million, mainly because treasury stock rose by ¥30,335 million through share buybacks and dividends of ¥18,961 million were paid; the equity ratio was 72.8%. The company kept its FY12/2026 forecast published on July 24: net sales of ¥685,000 million (+0.8%), operating profit of ¥63,000 million (+8.3%), ordinary profit of ¥64,000 million and net profit of ¥44,000 million. It paid an interim dividend of ¥40 and plans ¥55 at year-end, for an annual ¥95, equivalent to ¥190 before the share split and up from ¥85 on a post-split basis last year.
