Business Description
Toyota Motor Corporation designs, manufactures and sells passenger cars, minivans, commercial vehicles and parts worldwide, under the Toyota and Lexus marques together with the Daihatsu minivehicle business and Hino trucks and buses. Its electrification strategy is led by hybrids rather than a battery-only range, leaving it with an unusually broad powertrain portfolio spanning hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
Alongside vehicle manufacturing, the company runs one of the industry's largest captive finance operations through Toyota Financial Services. Results are reported in three segments — Automotive, Financial Services and All Other — with North America, Japan, Europe and Asia the principal sales regions. Toyota anchors the Toyota Group and holds strategic shareholdings across the Japanese supplier base.
